In response to David Robinson, I was planning to use *Sources* next
year. It is really the only thing of its kind, a source book that
focuses readings around a topic. I could think of other topics. Not all
would focus on persons. If I were doing it, I would probably have fewer
sources, and in some cases, longer ones. Perhaps someone else should pick
up the challenge: Ethiopia, the Atlantic slave trade, the caravan trade
in East Africa, the struggle for the Niger Delta, the new elites of West
Africa (Africanus Horton or Samuel Crowther); Samory; a resistance leader.
