CAAS 1996 Conference / Conference de l`ACEA de 1996

The Canadian Association of African Studies is pleased to announce
that its 1996 Annual Conference will take place in Montreal. The Conference
will be held jointly by the Universite de Montreal and McGill University,
with l`Universite Laval also participating.

The date of the 1996 Annual Conference of CAAS is 1-5 May, 1996.
It will be held parallel to the film festival <<Vues d`Afrique>>, which
runs in Montreal from April 25th through May 5th.

The theme of the 1996 Annual Conference of CAAS is CRISIS AND
RESILIENCE IN AFRICA. Proposals, whether for panels or paper presentations,
on this theme may already be sent in. As in all previous CAAS annual
conferences, papers and panels on any other important features of
African life -whether of historical or contemporary interest- will also
be welcomed.
A more formal announcement of this conference and call for papers and
panels will be found in the Fall 1995 issue of the Newsletter of the Canadian
Association of African Studies. In the meantime, those who wish further
