Some of you are no doubt already aware of this sad news; others will
want to know. In its May-June 1995 issue, the editors of *Africa
Report* have announced that the 40 year old magazine is ceasing
publication. Financial woes are the cause, and reappearance of
the journal will depend upon solving them.
Like many Africanists, I began reading *Africa Report* more than
thirty years ago. It was one of my key introductions to the continent
when I was a young undergraduate from a small town in central
California. In recent years it has been an important source for me
in analysis of recent changes on the continent. It will be missed.
