The work of John Lonsdale might be very relevant, especially his "The
Moral Economy of Mau Mau" in the book *Unhappy Valley*. Perhaps
contrasting the work of Kenyatta, Louis Leakey, Greet Kershaw,
Godfrey Muriuki, Ngungi wa Thiongo, Lonsdale, and others on the
Gikuyu, Mau Mau, or related themes might make for an interesting case
study!
