There is a story in the 1 Aug 1995 *Kenya News* ("Mazrui Launches New
Book") which may be of interest:

Professor Ali Mazrui has launched a book he co-authored with Ali
Amin Mazrui entitled "Swahili State and Society: The Political
Economy of An African Language". The book was published by the
East African Educational Publishers and deals with the origin of
the Swahili language. It also advocates the development and
expansion of the language in the East African region.
