EDITORS' NOTE:

Both H-AFRICA editors have been attending a Symposium
on `The Comparative History of Black People in Diaspora'
at Michigan State University the past few days. You
will have noticed that H-AFRICA has been silent during
that time. We apologize. Our attempts to make sure
your messages reached us during this period seem to have
been unsuccessful.

Some messages may have been lost out there in cyber-
space. If you tried to post to the list since last
Wednesday (April 12) please, if at all possible, send
your post again. Things seem to be back to normal so
I will be sure to deal with it in the next day or two
(along with the volume of subcsription requests which
have also piled up in my absence from this computer!).

We will be bringing you some reports and commentary on
the `Comparative Black History' Symposium in the days
ahead and raising some issues from that meeting which
you may wish to discuss. (Any of our subscribers who
also attended the Symposium are invited to offer their
initial observations as a means of starting things
off.)
