As we commemorate the first anniversary of the Rwandan genocide,
h-africans think it fitting to discuss the rating of their historical
heroes.

As the international division of labour deepens and Africa--in spite
of our theorizing--is trapped in the web of structural adjustments
and economic dependency, some of its illustrious representatives in
the most powerful nation choose to squabble over positions in their
august institutions.

African historians in America hold a deep responsiblity towards Africa and
its people. Regardless of skin colour, we have a duty to look beyond our
petit bourgeois concerns which we mask with cries of "marginalization"
and even, "racism".

Perhaps we should start looking at the real issues.
