1) Position: Africa
Institution: Fort Lewis College
Location: Colorado

Africa: Fort Lewis College anticipates a one-year position in
African history beginning in Fall 1995. Ph.D. and teaching
experience preferred. Research experience in Africa required.
Teaching responsibilities include survey and upper-division
courses in African history and a sophomore composition

2) Position: African History
Institution: University of Botswana
Location: Botswana

Applications are invited for the following posts:

ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR IN AFRICAN HISTORY
(Vacancy No. H/H 1/95)

Applicants will be required to teach North African History and a
Survey course in the History of Africa from Earliest Times to 1800.
They should also be able to teach at least one of the following
courses offered in the History Department: Philosophy of History and
Research Methods (offered at both undergraduate and graduate levels);
History of Southern Africa, and Historiography of Southern Africa. In
addition to teaching, applicants are expected to supervise research
students at both undergraduate and graduate levels, and to perform
any other duties assigned by the Head of Department. A specialisation
in North African and/or General History to 1800 including Philosophy
of History and Research Methods would be an added advantage. A
minimum of eight years' teaching experience at University level is
required as well as a proven record of research and publications.
Applicants should have at least an MA degree (but preferably a PhD)
in African History.

Remuneration per annum: Lecturer P30,852 - P66,204; Senior Lecturer
P63,552 - P75,120; Associate Professor P77,952 - P84,144.

Fringe Benefits: Include Motor Car Purchase Advance Scheme, an
optional UB funded medical aid plan, car allowance at 15% of basic
salary for staff earning a basic salary of at least P39,684 per annum
and free tuition for spouse and up to four dependent children on
courses offered by the University but not at its affiliated and
associated institutions. Additional benefits for expatriate staff
include: educational allowance for up to four dependent children and
gratuity at 25% of basic salary on successful completion of a
two-year contract.
