I just answered something about the issues raised by Curtin's opinion
piece to Nuafrica, but it's worth another shot just to get things
stirred up.
I wish to state my agreement with Profs. Marcus and Curtin that (1)
African Historical Study is essentially a humanistic endeavor; (2) as
such, it should be approach, studied, and taught ideally as a color-
blind exercise; and (3) to ignore these points endangers (i.e.
marginalizes) the position of African Historical Study itself in the
Historical curriculum.
