Bio: Colette Apelian has a PhD in Art History (UCLA 2005) and a MA in Islamic Studies (UCLA 1994). Her dissertation examined how stakeholders' agendas and interrelations ultimately worked against preservation in a historic North African town ("Negotiating the City: Conserving Fez, Morocco during the French Protectorate, 1912-1956" http://colette.apelian.googlepages.com/home). Colette has lived and researched in Morocco and France, and currently teaches art history.
