The successful candidate will be expected to teach four or five 3-credit courses including: a large pan-Asian lecture course, two survey lectures in East Asian Art, and an upper level seminar in her/his area of specialization. The Journalism Department provides a high quality, one and a half year Master in Journalism, which includes newspaper, radio and television journalism. Its curriculum has a strong focus on cross-mediality and convergence. Half of the program is devoted to teaching journalism skills in a well equipped multi media newsroom. The other half is devoted to academic courses in Journalism Studies, like theory and history of journalism, political communication, and research classes. The AWC provides a dynamic academic environment for teaching and research.  The academic program offers master’s degrees and senior-level professional military education to senior military officers and civilian officials from the United States and to senior officers from more than 40 nations.  

For the position of Professor of Leadership, the successful candidate will possess a minimum of a Master’s Degree in Management, Organizational Leadership, Military History, International Relations or a related field, with the ability to apply experience and expertise in the areas of leader development, critical and creative thinking, leading change, executive decision making, leading large complex organizations, and in developing senior leader competencies.   Military experience at a senior level, including command, or civilian experience at a senior level within the Department of Defense (DoD) or other government agencies is required.  

For the position of Professor of Strategy, candidates are sought who possess military or civilian experience at a senior level within the DoD or other government agencies, especially in the areas of strategic-level planning, is required, with experience in fields related to strategic planning, particularly that derived from frequent participation in the inter-agency process.  A minimum of a Master’s Degree in Military History, International Relations, National Security Affairs or Political Science with an emphasis on strategy and international security policy is required.  

Both positions require academic teaching experience and/or extensive professional experience and a suitable publication record.  Professional Military Education and a Ph. D. in a relevant field is highly desired.  

The candidate must be able to qualify for a Secret security clearance.
