Location: | Massachusetts, United States |
Position: | Administrator |
General Description
The Center for Black, Brown, and Queer Studies (BBQ+) is an independent research and scholarly center focused on conducting research on issues related to race, gender, sexuality and colonialism among other critical areas of study. It aims to activate, connect, and mobilize communities of researchers, students, educators and activists to dismantle the structural barriers that prevent the full participation and leadership of Black, Indigenous and People of Color, especially LGBTQ+ BIPoC, in spaces of learning and education. All of our programming is rooted in our commitment to addressing inequities by raising historical and cultural awareness around the intersections of race, gender, sexuality, socioeconomic status, citizenship status, and colonialism.
At BBQ+ we believe in the power of grassroots initiatives. As an organization focused on dismantling barriers for underrepresented and underserved minorities, we believe in the importance of having the communities we serve represented within our leadership. This is why our organization is majority led by people who understand the day-to-day lived realities of holding intersectional identities in systems of structural inequality.
