Position Description: The Department of History, Philosophy, and Social Sciences at Pittsburg State University invites applications for a Full Time Temporary Instructor (non-tenure track) in World History, with a preference in Africa/Middle East History beginning August 2021. The normal teaching load is four classes (12 hours) each semester. PhD required, but ABD will be considered. Evidence of teaching effectiveness and three letters of recommendation required.

Area of specialization is open, but preference will be given to applicants with a field in African Diaspora.

An active research agenda and a strong commitment to undergraduate education is desired.

An interest in Latin America is desirable but not required.

Documented effective undergraduate instruction desired; graduate instruction experience preferred.

Experience in student advisement desired.
Responsibilities: Teach World History survey courses and upper-division courses in areas of specialization in online and face-to-face formats; participation in the department’s online History MA program; academic advisement; and participate in appropriate service activities expected of a Pittsburg State University faculty member. Participate in long range planning and curriculum development for the department.
Salary and Rank: Rank: Instructor. Salary: $44,000.
