Center for Comparative Culture Studies at the Department of Cross-Cultural and Regional Studies, Copenhagen University, is a center for comparative studies of social and cultural forms across the globe. Research at the Center is based mainly on long-term ethnographic fieldwork within the regions covered by the Department. In terms of teaching, the Center offers theoretical, thematic and methodological elective courses at BA and MA level.
Duties and responsibilities of the post include taking part in developing the full range of courses offered at the Center. While the main research, teaching and administrative responsibilities will be in relation to the Center, the successful candidate will also be actively engaged in other departmental teaching and research activities.
The associate professor will take part in all activities of the Department, including examinations and administration, and can also manage research projects, provide pedagogical supervision, support assistant professors and participate in academic assessment panels.
A successful candidate has a disciplinary background in a field concerned with cross-cultural comparison and social and cultural theory; a strong expertise in one or more of the regions covered by the department; a long-term ethnographic field experience and the ability to teach fieldwork methods. Furthermore, the successful candidate has the capacity and willingness to supervise, teach and design courses at BA and MA levels and to contribute to the research and teaching environment, including administrative duties at the Department of Cross-cultural and Regional Studies.
