The University of Houston-Clear Lake (UHCL) invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor with expertise in nineteenth-century United States history. UHCL is proud to be a Hispanic Serving Institution and the new hire would be expected to regularly teach the university's first course on Mexican American history. Applicants with expertise in women’s and gender history or public history are also encouraged to apply. This position carries a 3-3 teaching load. Teaching responsibilities will include the U.S. History survey as well as upper-level undergraduate and graduate courses in nineteenth-century U.S. history and related subfields. The appointment will begin on August 1, 2021; the Ph.D. is expected by that date.
