The Religious Studies Program at the University of Nebraska at Omaha invites applications for a full-time faculty position at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor to begin August 17, 2020. The successful candidate will be awarded a newly established Blizek Professorship in Religion and Film, with a responsibility to serve in an editorial capacity with the Journal of Religion and Film. Faculty responsibilities will include teaching two courses per semester in Religion and Film, a research assignment, and service related to the study of Religion and Film. In addition, active participation in departmental program development is required.
Religious Studies at UNO is a diverse, student centered, community oriented, and innovative program that supports a wide range of interdisciplinary and international projects. In addition to numerous Minor programs, Religious Studies faculty members have played roles in developing and leading the Goldstein Center for Human Rights, the Medical Humanities program, the Native American Studies Program, and the Schwalb Center for Israel and Jewish Studies. Students can work entirely on-line or on-site, and we have developed internship opportunities for students in non-profit organizations. We are looking for a new faculty member to help us expand our commitment to the study of Religion and Film through research publications, courses taught, and service to the community and the academy.
