The Robert A. and Sandra S. Borns Jewish Studies Program at Indiana University’s new center for scholarly and cultural exchange with Israel, the Olamot Center, welcomes applications for a Visiting Scholar position for the Spring semester, 2021. Founded in 2017, the Olamot Center aims to realize the substantial potential for scholarly dialogue and collaboration with scholars in Israeli institutions of higher learning by offering Israeli scholars an opportunity to teach and conduct research in one of the largest and oldest Jewish Studies Programs in North America.
The Olamot Visiting Scholar will teach two undergraduate courses in the history, society, and culture of modern Israel, complementing the offerings of the Borns Jewish Studies Program, and will also present a workshop for the program on his or her main area of research. The visiting scholar is also expected to participate in the activities of the Borns JSP and to contribute to intellectual life at IU.
Ph.D. is required. Area of expertise within Jewish Studies is open. The salary for one semester is $25,000 plus benefits. The Visiting Scholar is responsible for arranging their own travel, housing accommodation and living expenses during the semester in Bloomington and must be in residence during the semester (Jan.-May, 2021).
