The School of International Service (SIS) at American University (AU) invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track faculty appointment for the Academic Year 2020-2021 with a focus on US foreign policy and national/global/human security.
Academic Rank and compensation will depend on the successful candidate’s experience, accomplishments and professional stature in the field. The appointment is for one academic year, commencing on August 1, 2020, with the expectation that the appointment may be renewed for subsequent academic years subject to satisfactory performance and budgetary authorization.
The position is intended for a person who will teach courses six courses (undergraduate and/or MA-level graduate) per academic year. All faculty are expected to hold office hours and participate in School and University activities and service. Applicants should share the School's commitment to diversity and inclusion.
Applicants should hold a PhD or the highest equivalent degree in a social science discipline by the anticipated start date or employment. Experienced practitioners with equivalent qualifications (MA/MS/JD and ten years of professional experience in the field) will also be considered.
The successful candidate will teach primarily courses related to US foreign policy and national/global/human security.
