The Department of History at the University of Nebraska at Omaha invites applications for a tenure-track, assistant professor position in Latin American History with an anticipated start date of August 17, 2020. Chronological period and area of specialization are open. The successful candidate will teach a 3/3 load (nine hours a semester). The successful candidate will be able to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in their area of specialization, and should also be able to teach surveys of Latin American history and sections of World Civilizations. The successful candidate is expected to maintain a program of research and publication, to participate in the History Department Programs, and to develop and participate in UNO activities associated with the Office of Latino and Latin American Studies (OLLAS). Established in 2003, OLLAS is dedicated to combining academic excellence with real-world engagement in order to enhance our understanding of Latino and Latin American communities and their critical issues.
Omaha is a metropolitan city with vibrant Latin American diaspora communities. The university, through the OLLAS, has a strong commitment to community engagement with local institutions such as El Museo Latino, Latino Center of the Midlands, and others.

The successful candidate will have their dissertation and all other work for a Ph.D. in history or a closely related field completed and approved by May 2020. Review of applications will commence on December 1, 2019. The position will remain open until filled.
