The Department of Italian Studies at the University of California, Berkeley invites applications for a full-time tenure track/tenured faculty position in the area of Modern Italian Literature. The expected start date is July 1, 2020.
The successful appointee will teach in English and in Italian at the undergraduate and graduate level, will mentor students and supervise their research, will have an active program of research and publication, and will perform service and participate in shared governance for the Department and the University.

• Required minimum qualification at the time of application: PhD (or equivalent international degree), or enrolled in a PhD or equivalent international degree-granting program at the time of application.
• Preferred qualifications: Completion of the Ph.D. (or equivalent international degree) by the start date of the position. Native or near-native competence in Italian and in English. Strong ability for successful research, teaching, and administrative service. Research productivity commensurable with years of experience.
