The Heidelberg Academy of Sciences and Humanities is seeking applicants from June 1st, 2019 onwards for the following position in the field of law and/or political science as part of its European Cancer Network interdisciplinary research project
Research Assistant
(E13 TV-L, 50% or 75-80%, currently fixed-term until December 31st, 2022)
EUCANCan is a European-Canadian cooperation financed by the European Union and the Canadian Institute of Health Research as part of the Horizon 2020 research and innovation program. EUCANCan aims to support modern oncology by developing a cultural, technological and legally-integrated governance framework that enables and facilitates the efficient analysis, management and exchange of cancer data. Your responsibilities:
- Scientific research/project work in the field of public law, especially European Union law, data protection law and comparative law
- Preparation and evaluation of research results
- Supporting the international and interdisciplinary project leadership
- Organisational duties

Selection criteria:
Essential
- Master's degree in law or political science
- Willingness to cooperate in an interdisciplinary way with international biotechnology and data protection experts
- Fluency in spoken and written English
- Good computer skills (MS Office)
- Independence, creativity and reliability
- Flexibility and commitment, engagement and capacity for teamwork
- Good organisational skills
Desirable
- Specialisation in public law
- French and/or Spanish language skills
- Experience in scientific research and academic work
