The Department of History at Elizabethtown College invites applications for a three-year Visiting Assistant Professor position in German Studies to begin July 2019. We welcome candidates whose teaching and/or research interests take a diverse or global perspective. The Department is interested in attracting faculty committed to dynamic and innovative classroom instruction.
The Department is interested in attracting faculty committed to dynamic and innovative classroom instruction. The typical teaching load is 3-3, and faculty are expected to involve students in high-impact practices such as research and internships whenever possible. Each year this position would normally teach two sections of Western Civilization, two upper-division history courses, and two upper-division courses for the Modern Language Department’s German language program. This position is also expected to advise students, provide professional service, and remain an active scholar in his or her field. Strong candidates will be committed to diversity and will engage with on-campus offices such as the Center for Global Understanding and Peacemaking.
A Ph.D. in a relevant field must be completed by summer 2019.
