The Department of History at West Virginia University invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professorship to begin August 2019. We seek candidates with research and teaching capabilities in African American History or Native American History before 1800 and who can contribute to one or more of the department’s four thematic strengths: gender and kinship, imperial and post-colonial societies, labor and political economy, and war and society. The successful candidate will teach introductory surveys in American history as well as undergraduate and graduate courses in their area of specialty.
Required qualifications include a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in History or a closely related field at the time of appointment, ability to provide excellent teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, a record of scholarly publications, and potential to secure external research funding.
