The Department of History at Florida International University is conducting an open search for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the History of Early Modern Europe and the world. Candidates whose work encompasses Spain/Iberia and the broader Mediterranean with particular reference to North Africa and/or the Levant are encouraged to apply. Topic areas of concentration might include the history of Iberian religious world (Inquisition; Al-Andalus, converts), gender, diasporas, law, trade, health, technology, or warfare. The teaching load will be two courses per semester. The person to be hired would offer courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, and not only contribute to our transnational PhD program with emphasis in Atlantic Civilizations, but also interface with relevant programs in the Steven J. Green School for International and Public Affairs, the Wolfsonian-FIU Museum, and the Wolfsonian Public Humanities Lab, as appropriate. The selected candidate must demonstrate commitment to service to the department, college, and university; to direct graduate research; to direct dissertations, MA reports and honor theses; and to publish actively.
