Wilkes University invites applicants for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level in Early American and Atlantic World History (the Colonial era or Early Republic) to begin in August 2019. The Department of History, located within the Division of Global Cultures, prides itself in our commitment to undergraduate teaching as well as maintaining a rigorous research and scholarship profile.
The successful candidate will be responsible for a 4/4 teaching load including survey courses in Modern World History as well as surveys and upper level courses in their field of expertise. Applicants with a specialties or subfields focusing on the history of the Atlantic World, Latin America and/or African American studies and who can contribute to our department’s focus on Public and Digital History as well as the university’s inter-disciplinary Women and Gender Studies program are particularly encouraged to apply. A Ph.D. in History (in hand by August 2019) is required. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in teaching undergraduate courses and advising undergraduate students. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
