Assistant Professor of Political Science
The University of Kansas (KU) Department of Political Science of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, invites applications for an assistant professor faculty position in International Relations or Comparative Politics with focus on East Asia beginning August 18, 2019. Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate methodological training that is appropriate with their theoretical approaches as well as provide evidence of the capacity to publish in major journals or presses in political science and areas studies. Applicants with a research and/or teaching specialty in national and international security with the capacity to teach courses in one or more of the following areas are encouraged to apply: international security, intelligence, diplomacy, international politics, East Asian politics and comparative foreign policy.
Duties: Teach a regular course load to include undergraduate and/or graduate courses and mentorship of students. Establish a research program leading to scholarly activity and publications. Participate in school, university and community service activities. Required Qualifications: A doctorate in Political Science. If ABD, the dissertation must be successfully defended by the position start date. Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level. Demonstrated ability to develop an innovative body of research and scholarship as evidenced by scholarly publications, presentations, and/or other scholarly activities.
