Job Description:
The History Department at the University of Massachusetts Amherst invites applications for an Assistant Professor in early American history. We are particularly interested in political, economic, military, and diplomatic history, and in candidates who could teach the Atlantic World or British history. Duties will involve teaching undergraduate courses in North American colonial history, the era of the American Revolution, and other undergraduate and graduate courses through 1783.
This is a full-time (9-month) tenure-track position beginning September 1, 2019. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Preliminary interviews will be conducted by video conference.
Requirements:
Candidates must have a Ph.D. in History or a related field by the date of initial appointment, and must provide evidence of research and teaching excellence, strong commitment to undergraduate and graduate education, and ability to work with diverse populations/students.
