The Department of Humanities at Texas A&M International University in Laredo, Texas invites applications for an Assistant Professor of History with a research specialty in Africa and/or Asia (full-time, tenure-track). The successful candidate will teach in the History program to include undergraduate (major and non-major students) and graduate courses in area(s) of expertise. Maintain an active research and publishing agenda. Provide service to the department, college, university, and community. Applicants with teaching experience; research specializations in social/cultural history topics; and/or ability to teach Islamic history are especially encouraged to apply.
An earned doctorate in History required. Advanced ABDs will be considered for Visiting Assistant Professor appointment. Research specialization and ability to teach courses in the history of Africa and/or Asia. Ability to teach survey courses in Eastern or World Civilizations. Strong commitment to undergraduate and graduate teaching. Evidence of scholarly activity and departmental and University service are required for tenure. The successful candidate will be expected to teach U.S. history survey courses as a part of the regular teaching load and will be eligible for available summer school teaching.
