As a community college in the CUNY system, Queensborough offers a wide variety of courses for university transfer, general education, preparation for careers, and enrichment. Candidates will teach courses in Ancient History, participate in departmental and college activities including committees, course and program assessment, curriculum development and preparation of grants, and provide academic support and advisement for students.
In addition to teaching, faculty members are encouraged to develop specialized courses in their own field of expertise including curriculum development and grants; continued scholarly activities are required for tenure and promotion; Candidates will share responsibility for committee and department assignments including administrative, supervisory and other functions. For Instructor title, scholarly activities are required for continued appointment. For Assistant Professor rank, scholarly activities are required for tenure and promotion. Some evening or weekend teaching may be required. Position to start Fall 2019.

QUALIFICATIONS
For Assistant Professor:
Ph.D. degree in area(s) of experience or equivalent.
For Instructor:
Master's degree in area(s) of expertise, and/or active progress toward a Doctorate, or equivalent.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Ph.D. Degree in Ancient History or related field in Ancient History.
Prior teaching experience in an academic setting, and demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.
Candidates with specialization in any field of Ancient history will be considered.
Other Preferred qualifications include: 1) college level teaching experience; 2) experience using instructional technology; 3) experience with course and/or program assessment; and 4) experience teaching diverse college student populations; 5) an innovative perspective and non-traditional approach to pedagogy.
