Position involves:
Research and publication based on the collections and the interests of the curator, assessing and building collections related to African American Social Justice, creating exhibitions as part of a team, and contributing to public programming.
Scholars working in African American social, intellectual, and cultural history of social justice movements. Specializations could include but are not limited to: freedom movements (such as anti-slavery, civil rights, voting rights, LBGTQ, housing, employment, policing); labor, women’s, or gender activism; and electoral politics. Experience working with material culture or in museums a plus. Ph.D. in history, American studies or related field in hand or completed by December of 2018. This is an entry-level position equivalent to an assistant professor.
Starting salary GS-12 - $81,548 per year, plus benefits
