The Department of History at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UA Little Rock) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Asian History (R96925) at the rank of assistant professor, with a start date of August 16, 2018. Job Duties and Responsibilities: Teach History of World Civilization survey courses, upper level, and graduate courses; conduct research leading to publication by internationally and nationally recognized presses and journals in the candidate’s area of specialization; serve on Department, College, and University committees; contribute to supervision of graduate and undergraduate research and internships; advise students; perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to teach, and expertise in, the history of Asia (specialty open); experience in K-12 teaching and/or willingness to work with social studies pre-service and in-service teachers; experience and/or willingness to work in the field of Public History; experience and/or willingness to teach online courses in Blackboard; experience and/or willingness to participate in community outreach, as UA Little Rock is a community-engaged institution in a metropolitan setting; ability to effectively communicate in person, in writing, and through electronic media; ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds.
Required Education and/or Experience: Ph.D. in history or related field at time of appointment. College level teaching experience required including experience with or willingness to participate in online teaching and learning.
Preferred Education and/or Experience: Specialty in Asian History.
