Earlham College invites applications for a full-time one-year visiting assistant professor position in Japanese Studies with a specialization in literature, film, or media to begin in fall 2018.
Responsibilities
Teaching responsibilities will include a full-time teaching load of 6 courses, 3 per semester. We are especially interested in adding courses in literature, art history, film/media studies, and popular/visual culture. Courses that include other East Asian content, particularly related to China, are also welcome.
Qualifications
An earned doctorate or other terminal degree is desired, though ABD candidates will be considered provided they can demonstrate significant progress towards completion of the dissertation. The successful candidate’s research and teaching should focus on Japan, but we welcome candidates whose scholarship and teaching include additional East Asian geographical or cultural contexts, especially those related to China.
