The Department of East Asian Studies invites applications for non-tenure-track Visiting Assistant Professor position in modern or contemporary Korean culture/society, effective July 1, 2018. The initial appointment will be up to three years, with a possibility of renewal contingent upon the candidate’s performance. Ph.D. required at the time of appointment. We welcome applications from scholars with training in the disciplines of literature, film, popular culture, visual studies, and/or gender and sexuality. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching a range of content courses at both the introductory and advanced levels, including classes taught in Korean and/or using Korean language materials. Evidence of potential excellence in scholarship and teaching is expected. We also seek applicants who will contribute to the broader intellectual life of the department and university. Native or near-native fluency in Korean and English is required.
