Founded in 2005, the Academy of Visual Arts (AVA) is the first of its kind in Hong Kong. The Academy is committed to providing the best visual arts education to meet the needs of the cultural and creative industries in the region. In the eventful years since its foundation, the Academy has grown and developed rapidly, building an international teaching team and developing multi-faceted, interactive programmes based on an advanced and adaptive interdisciplinary curriculum.
The following positions are affiliated to the Visual Art Studies (VAS) Division of the Academy, which manages art history and theory courses. VAS supports practice, encourages and develops critical and creative thinking at all undergraduate levels. In addition, VAS provides courses for the university GE programme of study, supports the conceptual development of the AVA Honours Project students, and supervises MPhil and PhD students.
Lecturer I / Lecturer II (Art History and Theory) (PR282/17-18)
The Academy invites applications from candidates with outstanding achievement in teaching, research and professional experience for two vacancies commencing September 2018. The appointee is expected to teach art history and art theory courses at undergraduate level, with focus on western art or design history.
Applicants should have at least a Master’s degree in a relevant discipline, accumulated academic teaching experience and a solid training and knowledge in the above area. In addition, evidence of research achievement is desirable. Applicants with less teaching experience will be considered for the post of Lecturer II.
Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract of two years. Re-appointment thereafter is subject to mutual agreement and availability of funding.
Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
