Limited-Term Appointment in American History, from the Colonial Era to the Civil War
The Department of History, University of British Columbia (Vancouver), invites applications for a one-year position as an assistant professor without review in the field of American History, Colonial Era to the Civil War, effective 1 July 2018. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in hand or expect to have successfully defended prior to 1 July 2018. They are expected to provide evidence of excellence in research, as demonstrated by published contributions or potential contributions to scholarship in their field. The successful candidate will be expected to teach a 12-credit (2-2) load, and thus a strong commitment to teaching excellence at the undergraduate level is required. This position may be renewed for a second year, subject to excellent performance and availability of funds. We particularly encourage applications from scholars whose research and teaching interests include any of the following fields: race, slaveries, the Atlantic world, public history, and/or material culture.

This position is subject to final budgetary approval. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
