The CSE Department seeks applications for an Academic Coordinator to serve as Director of its Master’s Program. We seek candidates who have demonstrated strong academic program development and management skills as well as significant experience as computer science and engineering higher educators. In addition to administrating the program, candidates are expected to teach two large Master’s-level graduate courses per year. Qualified candidates are required to have a Master’s degree in computer science (including computer science education) or a related area.
The incumbent will work closely with the department’s faculty-led Master’s Committee and the administrative staff of the Master’s Program to ensure the seamless management of the program. Responsibilities include recruitment, selection, and retention of talented students; management of the program’s admissions, course assignment; the development of relevant curricula; the mentoring and advising of students on academic and professional matters; and the cultivation and initiation of new projects as needed.
The Master’s Program at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering is a nationally recognized program educating and training up to 300+ master’s students each year from around the globe and through a rigorous academic program designed to ensure successful and highly sought-after graduates.
The Computer Science and Engineering Department at UC San Diego is a highly collaborative department, home to nearly 60 faculty including four teaching faculty. With over 2000 undergraduate majors and 700 graduate students, including 500 Master’s students. The CSE Department is deeply committed to the education of its Master’s students and is a leader in computer science education at a large scale. The department has pioneered several innovative educational programs and pedagogies, including leading the development of online courses, to support its large and thriving Master’s student body.
