Position Summary:
The Department of Theology and Religious Studies at Saint Joseph's University invites applications for a tenure-track appointment for an assistant professor in History of Religions or Religious Studies with a specialization in Chinese Religions. A clear research agenda; the ability to teach an introductory course on Comparative Religion as well as thematic courses such as the comparative study of ritual, ethics, or symbol and myth, etc.; and proficiency in Mandarin and Classical Chinese are required. Ph.D. in History of Religions or Religious Studies (or equivalent), with specialty in Chinese Religions, is required (or its imminent receipt by start date). Successful candidate will possess a strong commitment to excellence in teaching; a strong and viable research agenda in an ongoing, active program of scholarly productivity; and willingness to participate in service to the department, college, and university.

The teaching load is 3/3 and will include teaching courses within the candidate's specialty as well as courses that serve the General Education Program (such as Comparative Religions).

Ph.D. in History of Religions or Religious Studies with specialty in Chinese Religions is required (or its imminent receipt by start date). Proficiency in Mandarin and Classical Chinese is required.
