About the opportunity
Applications are invited for a four-year fixed term position at the level of Lecturer in the Department of Gender and Cultural Studies. The Department is seeking an applicant with an outstanding research profile in Gender Studies able to teach into and enhance the current major in Gender Studies. The appointee will be expected to teach large undergraduate units of study in areas such as Intimacy, Love and Friendship and Sex, Violence and Transgression as well as smaller and more specialized units. The appointee will also be expected to participate in the curriculum transformation currently underway at the University and to be willing to teach into interdisciplinary units as well as to supervise honours and masters students on a range of topics of departmental interest and need. In addition, the appointee will be expected to pursue an active research program, participate fully in the department’s research culture and undertake appropriate administrative roles and curriculum development as required.
We are seeking to appoint a Lecturer (Level B) to replace someone who has a Future Fellowship. The appointee will be expected to
- teach at undergraduate and postgraduate level to culturally-diverse student cohorts
- teach into the existing program and participate in curriculum development
- make a contribution to the research strengths of the department, including the pursuit of research grants and regular publication in journals of high standing and presentation and dissemination of research at academic conferences
- supervise honours and masters students
- contribute to academic administration.

- a PhD in Gender Studies or a related field
- evidence of high quality teaching capacity at undergraduate or postgraduate level in both large and small units.

- an active research program with significant potential for future publication
- evidence of successful teamwork and a collegial approach.
