Assistant Professor, Department of History, Tennessee Tech University. Full-time, nine-month, tenuretrack position teaching both halves of the United States Survey sequence, an upper division course in African American history, and in other specialty areas where needed. Appointment begins August 1, 2018. Required qualifications: PhD in History from an accredited institution by August 1, 2018. Demonstrated expertise in African American/Black History. Teaching philosophy and preferred instructional methods compatible with departmental goals and resources. Ability to advise and mentor students. Ability to teach both halves of the United States history survey. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Commitment to excellence, diversity, and equity. Authorized to work in the United States without the University’s sponsorship. Preferred qualifications: Experience with educational technology and/or digital history. Experience teaching both halves of the United States Survey sequence and additional subfields that augment existing departmental specialties, especially economic history, southern U.S., intellectual history, modern U.S., and/or sports history. Demonstrated commitment to collaborative undergraduate education. Ability to contribute to graduate and professional degree programs. Demonstrated ability to relate effectively with students, faculty, and other university personnel.
