The Department of History of The University of the South invites applications for a three-year visiting assistant professor in the history of North America before 1860. The appointment begins August 2018, and there is the possibility of extension for two additional years beyond the original three. Areas of specialization other than the American South and African American history are preferred. Teaching load for this position is six courses per year. The successful candidate will teach the U.S. History survey and courses in their fields of expertise. A PhD in history or a related field in hand by August 1, 2018 is required.
