The Department of Asian Languages and Civilizations at the University of Colorado Boulder invites applications for a tenure-track appointment as Assistant Professor of Early Modern (Edo period) Japanese Literature and Culture to begin August 2018. Candidates should have a PhD in Japanese literature or a related field, as well as a minimum of one year of research experience in one or more of the following areas: early modern Japanese fiction, drama/theatre, poetry, nativist studies, and/or related area. Research expertise may have been obtained during doctoral studies. ABD candidates will be considered. However, if the PhD degree is not conferred by August 20, 2018, the candidate will be appointed initially as an Instructor. Job duties include teaching courses in Japanese literature and culture to undergraduate and graduate students, as well as service to the university.
