UBC President's Excellence Chair in Media Studies
The Faculty of Arts at the University of British Columbia (UBC), Vancouver Campus, invites applications for a President's Excellence Chair in Media Studies, a full-time tenured appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor. We are seeking a senior scholar with expertise in Media Studies and the ability to build on growing momentum in this area at UBC and provide intellectual and institutional leadership. The successful candidate will be an outstanding researcher whose scholarship has made a major international impact in the Humanities; be a recognized leader in the field of Media Studies; have a strong record of attracting and supervising graduate students; excellence in teaching all levels of students; and be pursuing an original and innovative research program in Media Studies.

Since Media Studies represents an interdisciplinary cluster at UBC, the successful candidate will be appointed to an appropriate department or interdisciplinary unit. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching in the undergraduate Bachelor of Media Studies degree program. In addition, they will be expected to participate in the development of the Bachelor of Media Studies degree and the research cluster associated with it. The candidate will also teach in their home department as well as supervise undergraduates, graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows, and contribute to service at the departmental level and beyond.
Applicants should submit a curriculum vitae, a statement (1-2 pages) of teaching interests and accomplishments, a five year research program plan, and names and addresses (e-mail included) of four referees. Applications should be submitted online at http://www.hr.ubc.ca/careers-postings/faculty.php. The closing date for applications is September 30, 2017 or once a suitable candidate is found.
