The successful candidate should have a strong record of publication in the history, politics, culture, or society of modern Israel. Broad familiarity with Middle East Studies and/or Judaic Studies is desirable; knowledge of modern Hebrew is required. The departmental home for the scholar appointed to this position will be determined by that scholar’s field, discipline and interests; a joint appointment will be considered. We seek a candidate with an accomplished record in research and graduate training and mentoring, and with a desire and ability to foster and develop Israel Studies at Brandeis, working with the Schusterman Center for Israel Studies. The position is expected to be at the rank of associate or full professor, but an exceptional advanced assistant professor may be considered.
