Ancient History. The Department of History at the University of Oregon seeks to make a non-tenure track, full-time 9-month appointment in Ancient History to begin September 16, 2017. Renewal for one additional appointment is possible. The successful candidate will teach a total of six courses during the 2017-2018 academic year, two courses per quarter. Subject to the curricular needs of the department, these courses may include the first quarter of our Western Civilization survey, a course on sports in Antiquity, a course on war in the Ancient world, as well as upper division courses in classical Greece and Rome. Area of specialization open. Candidates must have a PhD in hand by Spring 2017 in History, Classics, or another relevant discipline. Applicants should submit a curriculum vitae, one chapter- or article-length sample of scholarly work, syllabi, and other evidence of teaching effectiveness.
