~~The History Department at St. Mary’s University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor to coordinate an already existing undergraduate Public History program and to establish an innovative Master of Arts degree in the same field. The ideal candidate must have a PhD in history with a specialization in Public History and interest in developing an MA program with a strong vocational and internship orientation. Preference will be given to those with knowledge and background in Museum Studies, Heritage Tourism, Documentary History Filmmaking and experience applying digital methods and technologies in the field of public history.
Applicants must demonstrate teaching excellence and commitment to a research and writing intensive curriculum. They must also demonstrate an active research and scholarly agenda. Contract load is four courses per semester during the Fall and Spring terms. The successful candidate will receive one course-release per semester for directing the undergraduate and graduate programs, and will teach three courses per semester.
