Lecturer in Modern Jewish Cultures and Communities
The Pennsylvania State University Jewish Studies Program
The Pennsylvania State University Jewish Studies Program announces a search for a full-time Lecturer in Modern Jewish Cultures and Communities for the 2017-2018 academic year, with a possibility of renewal. Discipline is open, but apposite ones include cultural anthropology, religious studies, cultural studies, history, etc.; in any case, we will consider a dedication to interdisciplinarity an advantage. Normal full-time teaching load for Lecturers is three courses each semester, for a total of six courses over the academic year. These will likely include the introductory-level courses Jewish Civilization and Identity (required course for the major and minor) and Society and Cultures in Modern Israel, and a major-level Jewish Communities course (though circumstances might dictate slight revisions to this plan). The successful applicant will be expected to be in residence in the State College area during the academic year. Competitive salary and benefits. Teaching experience and Ph.D. in hand by the start of the 2017-2018 academic year is preferred, but accomplished and qualified ABD applicants will be considered. Please upload a letter of application, CV, and dissertation or book abstract at https://psu.jobs/job/67631. In addition, please arrange for three letters of reference to be sent to Lynn Hepfer at lrd131@psu.edu. Feel free to contact Program Director Ben Schreier at bjs44@psu.edu with any questions.
