Following the appointment of its new President, Ryerson University is conducting an extensive search for the position of Provost and Vice-President Academic and invites nominations and applications for the position. The successful candidate will take office early in 2017 for a five-year, renewable term.

The Provost and Vice-President Academic is Ryerson’s chief academic officer, chief operating officer and the principal advisor to the President on all academic affairs, providing leadership in academic policy and programming, strategic planning, and university budgeting. Fulfilling the Academic Plan’s priorities, the Provost will lead and support greater student engagement and success through exceptional experiences; increase the excellence, intensity and impact of Ryerson’s scholarly, research and creative activity; foster an innovation ecosystem; and expand community engagement and city building. The university-wide Provost’s team includes five vice-provosts and the deans and directors of Ryerson’s faculties, schools, and academic support services and facilities.
The successful candidate will be an accomplished scholar in both research and teaching, and an exemplary leader with a strong commitment to serving the needs of faculty and students and advancing Ryerson’s academic focus on innovation, entrepreneurship and community engagement. He/she will be an experienced senior academic administrator with a demonstrated ability to advance and transform university academic programs, goals and priorities. The Provost and Vice-President Academic will possess: an open and collegial style; outstanding management, communication and interpersonal skills; a creative approach to problem solving; the ability to inspire faculty and staff; a proven track record of promoting excellence, equity, diversity and inclusion; and the capacity to build and sustain positive working relationships with academic and other administrative units, as well as with Ryerson’s external community.
