Assistant Curator, New Media
Temporary Full-Time Position (Up to one (1) year)

The Canadian Museum of History is looking for an experienced Assistant Curator, New Media. Reporting to the Manager, Contemporary Canada and the World, your key responsibilities will include:
- Developing an online content strategy that articulates the Museum’s original research content for online products and services;
- Ensuring the planning and the delivery of research initiatives for the Museum website;
- Coordinating online research with permanent gallery exhibitions and other major projects;
- Performing other tasks related to the functions and objectives of the Canadian Museum of History.
Successful candidates have the following qualifications, which are a deciding measure of success for this challenging opportunity:
Experience :
- Historical research, preferably in a museum setting or in connection with historic or heritage sites;
- Adapting historical content for virtual products;
- Project management of new media products;
- Applied research related to the production of museum products;
- Understanding the user experience perspective in creating online products;
- Preparing written research reports;
- Working with multi-disciplinary teams;
- Writing history for public audiences.
Knowledge:
- Digital product development in history or related fields;
- Methodology for developing exhibitions and online museum-related products;
- Techniques and methods of writing research reports and curatorial analysis;
- Canadian history and culture;
- Material history and museum practices;
- Computerized databases;
- Internet applications and resources.
Asset:
- Kowledge and experience in Web design.
Education: Master’s degree in History, Public History, Ethnology, Museology or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Compensation: $57,450 - $74,338 (Job classification: E6P)
