The Interdisciplinary Studies Department at Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a 9-month tenture-track assistant professor in American Studies/Latin@ Studies with an emphasis on Latin@ cultures in the United States, to begin August 1, 2017. The professor will teach undergraduate courses for the Latin American/Latin@ Studies program and undergraduate and graduate courses in the American Studies program. Possible courses might include Introduction to Latin American/Latin@ Studies: Introduction to American Studies at the undergraduate and graduate levels; Popular Culture of the Americas; and other courses in the candidate's area of specialization. The teaching load is 3 courses per semester. Courses may be taught on the Kennesaw or Marietta campus, and are offered during daytime and evening hours. Faculty in the department teach in a variety of modalities: face-to-face, hybrid, and online. Faculty are also expected to maintain an active research agenda as well as to meet service obligations of the department and University. In addition to seeking a dedicated teacher-scholar, we seek a candidate who will work with current program faculty to enhance course offerings with a transnational and interdisciplinary perspective.
Required Education: A PhD in American Studies, Latin@ Studies, Chicano Studies, or closely related field or its foreign equivalent in ability, training, and/or experience is ideal. ABD applicants will be considered. Applicants with previous experience teaching at the undergraduate or graduate level are encouraged to apply.
