Applications are invited for the position of Director of the John W. Gallivan Program in Journalism, Ethics, and Democracy in the University of Notre Dame. The interdisciplinary GAallivan Program offers a robust undergraduate minor in journalism. The Director of the program plays the leading role in the University’s efforts to train ethically sensitive journalists who understand the role of a free press in a democratic society and are familiar with the multiple converging media that form the context for journalism today. Candidates should have extensive journalistic experience and a distinguished profile in the field. The Director will teach undergraduate courses on the history and practice of journalism, journalistic ethics, and journalism in society, while also directing the Gallivan Program, with responsibilities for planning the curriculum, organizing public lectures and visits to campus by active professional journalists, and arranging student internships across the country.
